I took advantage of the fair weather this weekend to finally take a trip to Twin Peaks. Despite being a big fan of the works of David Lynch, and also living so close all these years, I had never bothered to drive up to the "Great Northern Hotel" or "Double-R Diner". Well, after having received the complete Twin Peaks series DVD boxed set for my birthday I figured it was finally time to take the pilgrimage for the famous cherry pie and "damn fine cup of coffee".
We had a pleasant little hike down to the power plant at the bottom of Snoqualmie Falls, a walk through the Salish Lodge (nice!), and a late lunch at the diner (Twede's Cafe). Instead of pie though I chose the fajita burger with a black bean patty (one of the 50 burgers on the list). In addition to the little shrine to the Twin Peaks series in back hallway next to the restrooms, the diner has a huge collection of tweety birds along the wall. I didn't realize why until my son pointed out the name afterwards (duh!). He said it was by far the greasiest meal he'd had in a very long time.
