I put together a few clips from my Cowlitz River trip to give you a taste of what it's like. I used a combination of GoPro HERO2 time lapse footage, GoPro HD (1280 x 720, 30 fps) and clips from my Canon EOS Rebel Ti1 (500D) (1920 x 1080, 20 fps). The biggest problem with the GoPro is keeping water droplets off the lens. I keep my DSLR in a dry bag on my lap and under the spraydeck, and take it out when I need it. Obviously, this would be a little risky in rough water. It sure takes crisp video! I alternate between using the 18-55 mm Canon lens that came with the kit and a 10-24 mm wide angle Tamron lens. You have to focus manually using the LCD screen, which is a real pain at first, but after you get the hang of it is fine, and the wandering focus can give you a real cinematic effect.
